EPISODE SUMMARY:

Thinking about launching a digital course to free up your time and boost your income? In todays episode I walk you through six simple steps that you need to follow to create a successful online course that you can sell over and over again.

Step 1. Choose a Course Topic & Pricing

Select a subject you know and love to talk about, but also your audience needs to achieve their goals or overcome their current challenge. Decide on the course price and enrollment times. Your pricing should reflect the transformation/ the end result you offer. Charge more for big transformation and less if it’s just a small win. Online course should always be cheaper than your 1:1 services. When you only starting it’s recommended to have specific enrollment times to create the sense of urgency for buyers.

Step 2. Define Course Goal

Clearly outline what students will learn by the end of the course. It should be the results that you have achieved for yourself or somebody else.

Step 3. Plan Your Online Course Content

Start with the end result of your course and plan backwards what steps your students need to take to get the result. Break down the course content into manageable modules or lessons. Think about other additional resources and milestone assessments to enhance the learning experience.

Step 4. Create Online Course Content

Your online course can include all sorts of content such as written content, video lectures, quizzes, and any other materials necessary for your course. Ensure your content is well-structured and engaging. To record your video lessons you may use your mobile phone or if you want to share your screen it can be Zoom and finally if you want to present the slides it can be Canva. Make the videos short and easy to digest for your students.

Step 5. Promote Your Course

Your course won’t sell itself. Prepare a landing page with your course outline, enrollment information and pricing and plan your marketing/ launching activities to promote the course. The activities can include email marketing, hosting a webinar, course-focused lead magnet, guest speaking on podcasts and social media. You may also offer a discount for early enrollment.

Step 6. Build a Course Website or Send To Your Web Designer

Once your content and landing page are ready send it to your web designer to set it up on your website or do it yourself. If you don’t have a Squarespace website you may consider transferring it to Squarespace so you have all your business elements in one place or you can check the platforms such as Teachery, Udemy, Teachable or Thinkific. Consider factors like pricing, ease of use, and customization options when selecting a platform.

If you already have an idea for a course in your head, don’t overthink the process. It's important to prioritize your students learning experience to ensure they will achieve their goals and successfully finish the course so they can share about their results with others referring you new students. Treat your online course as a live organism. Gather feedback from your students, monitor the course success rate and keep updating and refining your course and marketing strategies so you can sell it over and over again and make money.
