All websites should have a similar structure in order to convert, but at the same time each site should be unique, to stand out in a crowded market. And what makes a website unique? It is your personal branding, that attracts the right clients. So if you want to have a website that you love and that works for you, you should get your branding first.

EPISODE SUMMARY:
Start with your target audience
Think about the personality and characteristics of your target audience that you’re trying to attract. Are they mostly women, men, or both? What is their age, interests, and preferences? Understanding the target audience will help you choose colours that appeal to them and resonate with their emotions.
For example, if your target audience is primarily women, you may want to consider colours that are associated with femininity, such as pink, purple, and pastels.
However, if your target audience is both men and women, you may want to consider neutral colours such as blue, green, or yellow.
If you target teens, you may choose bold colours such as yellow, orange or vivid green. Also, you will choose different colours for women entrepreneurs and corporate women.
How do you want your clients to feel?
Think about the emotions you want your audience to feel. Are you working with stressed moms and you want to bring balance and calm to their life? (light blue, mint, sage) Or do you want to help them feel in control and organised? (teal, darker blue, white, yellow) or you want them feel confident (navy blue, coral)
Think about your personality and the service you provide
Think about your brand values and your personality. Are you bold and energetic or calm and nurturing? Different colours convey different emotions and can reflect different brand personalities.
For example, if you’re a wellness coach focused on calmness and serenity, you may want to choose light shades of blue or green. If you’re a driven business coach focused on achieving goals, you may want to choose shades of red or orange.
If you’re a well-organized career coach for corporate women, you may choose colours like blue navy, gold or teal.
And finally, if you’re a nurturing and welcoming life coach you may opt for neutrals colours like earthy brown, beige or cream.
Look for Inspiration
Look for brands that you love. What colours and fonts they use? Ask yourself why you like them, how they make you feel? Do you want your clients feel the same?
You also, may open your closet and see what colours you like to wear. Ask yourself how they make you feel and if you want your clients to feel the same way? Think in adjectivities: empowered, joyful, happy, optimistic, energetic, confident, organised, calm, relaxed, courageous, luxurious, etc
To save time and make it really easy for my web design clients, I prepared a small branding exercise that will help you discover your brand personality and give you some ideas about matching colours and fonts for each personality type.

Keep it Simple
Choose from two to four colours (one accent colour and three neutral colours) and make sure that they work well together. Use the chosen colours consistently across all your marketing channels and materials. This will help your brand, look professional and be more memorable.
