Nonprofit website design on Squarespace for local environmental group in Dublin
Laurel Lodge Environmental Group wanted to raise its profile in the local community, attract new members and volunteers, and increase donations without relying solely on social media. Ella Web Design has created a modern, clean and easy-to-use fundraising website on Squarespace with Google Maps integration and local SEO optimisation that gives the voluntary community group a permanent home online.
From relying on social media to a permanent online home
The group needed a professional website that would make it easier for local people to discover what they do and get involved.
The website needed to:
Improve the group’s local online presence
Attract new members and volunteers
Make donations easier
Promote litter-picking activities and upcoming events
Give the community one trusted place to find information
The aim was to create something approachable, energising and enticing to join while making the website simple for the group to manage themselves.
As the client said, I helped them develop their “brand and messaging” and suggested “innovative solutions” for some of their wishlist.
A fundraising website delivered on brief and on budget
We started with a strategic assessment of the group activities and their potential audience and also analyse other local community groups.
Then, I selected a colour scheme, fonts and photos matching the group vibe and personality, researched relevant keywords and refined the messaging before designing and building the website on Squarespace.
The finished website includes:
6 pages
Donation collection functionality
Google Map integration showing litter-picking locations
Upcoming events page
The website is SEO and mobile optimised.
The client described the process as “organised, focused and thoughtful”, with everything delivered “on time” and “on budget and on brief.”
After testing and launching the website, I provided website training and 14 days of post-project support so the team could confidently manage their new online home.
542 website visitors in the first six months
Six months after launch, the website had attracted 542 unique visitors, helping the group establish a stronger awareness in its local community.
The group now has what they wanted from the beginning: “a permanent home on the Internet for our group.”
Their members were “so pleased with the results”, and the group was “delighted” with its new website.
